Gaining accreditation is no mean feat, and we are really proud to come on board. The independent auditing process is rigorous, and conducted by the CHSA’s Independent Inspector. Assessments don’t stop when you’ve gained accreditation – regular audits will continue, offering buyers certainty and confidence that high standards are maintained.

The CHSA is committed to driving up standards in the cleaning industry, and so is the dedicated team here at Jangro. There is no question that working environments have a significant impact on health and wellbeing. Productivity and morale in office-based staff can all be impacted by small changes in working conditions, for instance, simple features such as natural lighting and modern kitchen amenities can potentially have a big impact on the wellbeing of a team.

Of course, a top quality barista service would also make a nice upgrade to any office, together with a weekly back massage service – but that might be getting slightly carried away.

In fact, one of the simplest ways of supporting a healthy workforce is by ensuring that workplaces are kept clean and hygienic with regular, thorough cleaning schedules that use the most appropriate products.

And the majority of infections can be carried and transmitted by the hands – at any one time a thriving community of well over 300,000 species of bacteria dwell on each palm. But while it is widely known that you should clean your hands thoroughly after using the washroom, many people still do not comply.

As a newly-accredited Living Wage Employer, Jangro is committed to fair pay that reflects the real cost of living

Jangro, the largest network of independent janitorial distributors in the UK and Ireland, is delighted to announce that it has received accreditation as a Living Wage Employer.

The Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Jangro, regardless of whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff; receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.45 in the UK or £9.75 in London. Both of these rates are significantly higher than the statutory minimum for over 25s of £7.50 per hour introduced in April 2017.

The real Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, and employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis.
Jangro Operations Director Joanne Gilliard said, “We are committed to fair pay that reflects the real cost of living. The dedicated team that works at Jangro are our greatest business asset, and accreditation as a Living Wage Employer means we are fairly reflecting their hard work and the value that they bring to our business, and to our customers. Being a Living Wage Employer is vital to maintaining a strong, motivated team.”

Director of the Living Wage Foundation Katherine Chapman said, “We welcome Jangro to the Living Wage movement as an accredited employer. Responsible businesses across the UK are voluntarily signing up to pay the real Living Wage now. The real Living Wage rate is annually calculated to reflect the real costs of living.”

“We are a movement of over 3000 UK employers who together want to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. We have lots of small businesses as well as big household names like; IKEA, Aviva, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs and many more.

“These businesses recognise that the Living Wage accreditation is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Jangro join us, because they too believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”

Hand Hygiene saves lives!

It is Save Lives Clean Your Hands day on 5 May, an initiative by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness about the importance of good hand hygiene. The focus is on healthcare, with a call to action to help fight against the spread of antibiotic resistance.

The WHO’s Save Lives Clean Your Hands campaign aims to demonstrate that hand hygiene is the gateway for reducing health care-associated infection and patient safety. It also aims to demonstrate the world’s commitment to this priority area of health care.

The WHO’s calls to action for the 2017 campaign are:

  • Health workers: “Clean your hands at the right times and stop the spread of antibiotic resistance.”
  • Hospital Chief Executive Officers and Administrators: “Lead a year-round infection prevention and control programme to protect your patients from resistant infections.”
  • Policy-makers: “Stop antibiotic resistance spread by making infection prevention and hand hygiene a national policy priority.”
  • IPC leaders: “Implement WHO’s Core Components for infection prevention, including hand hygiene, to combat antibiotic resistance.”

What a show!

Huge thanks to the many visitors who came along to our stand at The Cleaning Show 2017, which took place from 14 to 16 March at Excel London. We had a fantastic time – it was an unmissable trade show, not least thanks to the vintage double decker London bus that was the highlight of our stand, and indeed something of a show stopper for the whole event.

The busJangro1 proved hugely popular with both customers and exhibitors, boasting a full barista service on the inside as well as meeting space and a VIP area.

We launched our new Cleaning and Hygiene Supplies 2017/18 catalogue at the exhibition, and received a great reception from visitors and journalists alike. In fact we had to order a fresh delivery of catalogues after the first day, such was the interested iJangro2n our latest ranges.

We also showcased updates to our popular Jangronaut children’s dispenser range, which visitors were particularly impressed with.

Our expert representatives were also on hand to answer questions about all our latest products and innovations, including our award-winning suite of free e-learning training courses, Learning Management Solutions (LMS).

Serious about training

As many of you may be aware, Jangro has developed an innovative free e-learning platform – the Learning Management Solution (LMS). We think training in the cleaning industry should be accessible and free, and identified a clear need for a high-quality method of reaching a large audience.

Well, this ground-breaking initiative is proving to be very popular – already there have been 1,800 completed courses all gaining their very own Jangro certificate, while another 800 keen students have nearly completed their courses.

It makes us so proud and satisfied to know that we are helping to drive forward training in our industry, and we are delighted with the level of interest in LMS. But it shouldn’t be a surprise – after all, the LMS is a fully interactive suite of e-learning and m-learning modules which are available over the internet.

We are passionate about improving health & safety in the cleaning industry, and wanted to improve standards and highlight best practice through training. However, LMS is not a replacement for accredited courses from respected providers. BICSc, for example, offers very special, intensive courses. We are trying to help compliance where companies can’t afford that level of cost or training.

One of the biggest advantages of the LMS is that it doesn’t take cleaners away from their day-to-day jobs to train. We understand that in cleaning there’s a high turnover of staff and they can’t always be spared off-site for a day of training.

The LMS is free for every organisation employing cleaning staff and will ultimately save money in getting the job done the right way, the first time, using the right products. The LMS is accessible on any laptop, palmtop, tablet, BlackBerry, android phone or iPad.
